The project aims to address human-wildlife conflict (HWC) and promote community-based solutions in the Kangchenjunga and Kailash Landscape through a range of targeted activities. A baseline survey will be conducted to understand the current conflict situation with wildlife. Measures to reduce conflict piloting electric fencing for small mammals will be installed in the Kailash Landscape. Where, the seasonal fence installed in the Kanchenjunga landscape in Bahundangi and Tiring will be monitored to analyze the effectiveness of the fence. Additionally, the project will pilot cash crop insurance schemes in collaboration with local government to support affected farmers. Local community capacity will be enhanced through training on income-generating activities, handicraft skills for ten individuals in Bahundangi, and the branding of five local products with an elephant theme to promote conservation-based livelihoods.

To strengthen institutional support, a Rapid Response Team (RRT) will be formed in Tiring and provided with both basic (one-day) and advanced (four-day) training modules, enabling future scaling in other areas. Cross-learning programs will be facilitated between RRTs in Bahundangi, Tiring, and across the Nepal-India border to share knowledge and best practices. Public awareness will be enhanced through the publication of an English version of the Elephant Profile booklet and installation of an information board displaying elephant profiles. Furthermore, education and awareness programs will be conducted for local communities, focusing on HWC prevention and mitigation strategies to ensure coexistence between people and wildlife in the Kailash Landscape.
